History Info :

Ancient Name & Meaning (if any) :

The word “Kunj” means an Elephant in Sanskrit language and the fort derives its name from it. From the base village of Vihir this fort resembles like a giant elephant. 

Brief War History :

This fort was used for resting by Shivaji Maharaj in 1670 after the war of Dindori. The Maratha forces were rested and the injured were treated on this fort.
